About the Sales and Marketing Council (SMC)

The Sales and Marketing Council promotes skill and professionalism in sales and marketing for HBA members. The objective of the Council is to serve the building industry through educational services; awards programs that showcase examples of sales and marketing excellence; and sales and marketing support to HBA members, committees and councils. Many of our classes and events lend themselves to all types of sales positions, not just real estate agents!  The SMC requires membership in addition to your regular HBA membership.  Call HBA for details, or email info@akronhba.com

Our newsletter, SMC Network is a bi-monthly publication distributed to our current members and posted on the HBA website.  Click here for the latest issue.

Events
Our biggest event is the Merchandising and Marketing Excellence awards (MAME).  Click here for highlights and winners for 2010.  Call for Entries for 2011 submissions will be sent in October with deadlines in December. 

Networking Events/Member Mixers are held several times a year at various locations. During networking events we hope you make connections and reinforce friendships in order to grow and strengthen your business.

WineNet Night will be held on Thurday, April 21 at Trumbull Industries Kitchen & Bath Showroom (209 Perkins St.).  This new concept has become very popular and is hosted by and held at a member's business location!  Click here for the latest details

Holiday Gathering is held in each December in conjunction with the HBA Holiday Open House. Members and friends can enjoy food, holiday fun and doorprizes! 

Education
Lunch & Learn scheduled as needed at the HBA office from 11:30-1:00 and features timely topics to help you grow your business and provides support or new information.  Our latest offering was held on March 15 and presented by HBA president, Richard Bancroft and titled, "Turning Browers into Buyers."

Building from the Ground Up is a short (3 hour) class about new construction.  It's great for people new to the industry and veterans alike.  Information on a 2011 offering is pending.

Be sure call the HBA office at 330.869.6800 with any questions.  Your SMC membership is an individual, not a company membership.  Your company, however, MUST be an HBA member.  For 2011, the SMC Membership Drive Slogan is "SMC - You'd be Fuelish Not To Join" Each member that joins in 2010, and their sponsor, will receive a $10 prepaid gas card from Speedway SuperAmerica.
